The Village at Elmhurst To Become Part of Benchmark Assisted Living
-Assisted Living Residence Will Join Company Known Nationally For Quality-

Providence, RI (September 28, 2004) – Benchmark Assisted Living and Village Retirement Communities announced today that The Village at Elmhurst will be purchased by Benchmark Assisted Living. Benchmark is the largest provider of senior living in New England and has been praised nationally for its commitment to create a quality lifestyle for its residents and a dynamic culture for its associates.

“The Village at Elmhurst is an excellent residence for many Providence-area seniors. The staff at this community has done a tremendous job offering outstanding senior living services and hospitality,” said Thomas H. Grape, Benchmark chairman and CEO.

The ownership change is part of a nine residence purchase of Village Retirement properties in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts by Wellesley, Massachusetts- based Benchmark Assisted Living.
